The team here at Zen are blue-sky thinkers. We like to put on our creative hats and see things from your perspective, asking ourselves what you need to make your event the most unforgettable experience for your attendees. We recognise that the business world is evolving around us, particularly as the millennial generation march forward to secure their places as managers, business owners, and leaders; expectations are changing and everybody is beginning to challenge the ‘traditional’, searching for something exceptional.

One of the key changes in our industry is this idea of a ‘unique venue space’. Somewhere engaging, potentially interactive and just outside of the norm. This works particularly well for networking events as you can stage the setting of the event around a conversation-starter. A good example of this is hosting a meet-and-greet at a museum or aquarium, complete with drinks and catering, live music and performers; the space alone will get people moving and talking. Or take a team-building exercise and make it an epic adventure in the outdoors, round off the night with a rustic farm-style dinner and a keynote speech under the stars. A successful event is one that drives engagement and leaves people excited about the future and the space is actually a really big part of that.

We like to keep an eye out for places that we think would make a dream venue, from all around the world. We really are spoilt for choice here, as more and more incredible buildings open up their doors for corporate events with an edge– but, we think we’ve narrowed it down to our top 5.

  1. The Liberty Boston Hotel

This place is an event-planners dream. What was once the iconic Charles Street Jail has been converted into a luxury five-star hotel, with a unique dining space – complete with dining nooks in the jail cells – and around 6,000 square feet of space for bespoke functions. Six equipped meeting rooms, panoramic views of the city and multiple bars and restaurants within the complex… enough said, really.

2. The Natural History Museum, London

This venue is a celebrated landmark in London, known for its incredible architecture, amazing displays, and beautiful courtyard. It’s also an increasingly popular choice to host award ceremonies, charity balls and company celebrations, accompanied by fine-dining services, acrobatics, impressive audio-visual capabilities, and cocktails to really pack a punch. One of the lesser-known features of using the Natural History Museum as an event space is their out-of-hours tours of the galleries, exhibitions, and collections; an interesting evening-out for your best performing teams.

3. Petersen Automotive Museum, L.A

This is space packed with personality; a 300,000 square-foot car enthusiasts dream. There are five unique venues within the museum, all of which are designed to celebrate the evolution of great automotive achievements from throughout history. The capacity for these spaces is impressive and you can tailor your event for 10 guests or you can invite 2,000. The event itself can be held on the rooftop, under the stars of the west coast or you can wine and dine amongst the classic cars. Some of the other spaces within the venue include a penthouse (which includes floor to ceiling windows and a rooftop patio) and the Founder’s Lounge. We think this space ticks a lot of boxes; dynamic, intriguing and educational.

4. Lightspace, Brisbane, Australia

Lightspace offers up a warehouse vibe with a boutique twist. It’s the perfect venue for a smaller, perhaps more intimate gathering, catering for groups of up to 300 with its 650 square feet of space. Equipped with state-of-the-art audio-visuals technology, unique lighting, concrete floors, timber walls, and high-ceilings, there’s just something about this venue that just elevates a traditional meeting space into something extraordinary.

5. The Lost Chambers, Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai

Home to over 60,000 marine animals, this stunning space is part of the infamous Atlantis, The Palm. Fitted out to host events for up to 150 guests, with underwater views of the exhibitions, you can network, dine, host a conference or just celebrate an amazing business achievement as a team in an environment that will have a lasting impact. Everything about this venue has been carefully planned and considered and it definitely deserves a place in our top 5.

These are just five of an ever-expanding list of incredible, unique venues around the world that could elevate your next meeting or event to the next level. For further information on any of the above, or for a list of exciting venues in your preferred location get in touch with the Zen team.
